Community & mentorship

Learning alone is slow. Getting unstuck is the skill.

A moderated, technical space for PrimeSec learners — lab troubleshooting, project review, live sessions and challenges. Professional and practitioner-led, not a social feed.

Community access is tied to an enrolled learner account. One-on-one mentorship is a separate paid add-on.

Inside the community

Six spaces, all technical

Every space maps to something you are actually doing in the platform — a lab, a project, a module or a career decision.

Lab troubleshooting

You build your own environments, so things break. Post the error, the config and what you already tried — get unstuck without losing a weekend.

  • Hyper-V, VMware, VirtualBox and Docker issues
  • Azure, AWS and GCP setup problems
  • Networking, DNS and identity misconfigurations

Project & portfolio review

Bring a README, diagram or detection rule and get concrete feedback before it goes in front of a hiring manager.

  • Architecture and design critique
  • Documentation clarity and structure
  • GitHub repository presentation

Path & career discussion

Talk through which track fits your background, what to study next, and how to sequence certifications around real work.

  • Track selection and sequencing
  • Resume and interview preparation
  • Role expectations by specialisation

Course discussion

Per-module threads so questions stay attached to the lesson they came from instead of scrolling away in a general channel.

  • Module-scoped question threads
  • Clarifications from instructors
  • Shared references and further reading

Challenges

Periodic technical challenges — detection writing, threat modelling, hardening tasks and AI security scenarios.

  • Time-boxed practical scenarios
  • Write-ups shared after the deadline
  • Counts toward achievements and XP

Live sessions & events

Cohort sessions, office hours and topic deep-dives. Recordings are posted for learners in different time zones.

  • Instructor-led cohort sessions
  • Open office hours
  • Recordings for asynchronous learners

One-on-one mentorship

Private sessions with a practitioner when the community thread is not enough. Purchased separately from your learning plan.

  • Technical coaching on the topics you are actually stuck on
  • Lab and environment troubleshooting with a practitioner
  • Project and portfolio review before you publish it
  • Career planning, resume feedback and interview preparation
  • Accountability check-ins on an agreed cadence

Share work, safely

The point of sharing is evidence you can show an employer. Publish the architecture, the reasoning and the documentation — never the secrets.

Redact tenant IDs, hostnames and internal ranges

Rotate anything that ever touched a screenshot

Keep vulnerable environments local and offline

Write the README as if a hiring manager reads it first

Ground rules

How we keep it useful

Moderated by the PrimeSec team. The rules exist so senior practitioners keep showing up to answer questions.

Encouraged

  • Post the error, the config and what you already tried
  • Share your own lab and project work
  • Credit sources and prior write-ups
  • Answer someone else's question when you can

Not allowed

  • Post credentials, secrets, tokens or keys
  • Share employer-proprietary or customer data
  • Request exam dumps or graded assessment answers
  • Target systems you do not own or have permission to test

Enrol, and the room comes with it.

Community access is part of every learning plan. Mentorship is there when you want a practitioner in the room with you.
